Kamaka Gold Label Soprano Ukulele c.1960

$1,995.00

Founded in 1916, the Kamaka family ukulele luthiery has now been operating for 107 years near Honolulu.  During the late 1950s and early ’60’s, their ukes featured an internal label of black print on a metallic gold background.  These ‘Gold Label’ Kamakas are particularly well regarded instruments, and this is no exception, from the AA grade flame and figured Koa used throughout, to the accurate construction and rosewood fretboard with perfect intonation.  At 37mm the nut width and string spacing to the bridge is slightly wider and more comfortable for advanced playing than most soprano designs; hence Kamakas are favoured by professional players including Jake Shimabokuro and, in his day, George Harrison.   With its original hard case, this is a highly refined and collectable Hawaiian ukulele which is a delight to play, in excellent original condition throughout.
